چکیده

— Relaying is a promising enhancement to current radio technologies, which has been considered in IMT-Advanced candidate technologies such as 3GPP LTE-Advanced and IEEE 802.16m. Relay enhanced networks are expected to fulfill the demanding coverage and capacity requirements in a cost efficient way. Among various relaying architectures multi-hop moving relays can provide additional capacity for the cases when fixed relays are inaccessible or not able to provide adequate solutions in terms of cost. In this paper, an overview of multi-hop moving relays along with some of the envisioned deployment scenarios is presented. Furthermore, different types of multi-hop moving relays are discussed and the challenges are addressed.

Multi-Hop Routing in Covert Wireless Networks

In covert communication, Alice tries to communicate with Bob without being detected by a warden Willie. When the distance between Alice and Bob becomes large compared to the distance between Alice and Willie(s), the performance of covert communication will be degraded. In this case, multi-hop message transmission via intermediate relays can help to improve performance. Hence, in this work multi...

Energy Minimization by Optimally Relocating Mobile Relays in Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

This paper considers the energy minimization problem in a multi-hop wireless ad hoc network that consists of regular nodes and mobile relays. In such a network, mobile relays may relocate to optimal positions such that energy consumption for data transmission is minimized. In order to find the optimal positions for mobile relays, the mobile relay optimal relocation (MROR) problem is first defin...

Performance analysis of FSO using relays and spatial diversity under log-normal fading channel

The performance analysis of free space optical communication (FSO) system using relays and spatial diversity at the source is studied in this paper. The effect of atmospheric turbulence and attenuation, caused by different weather conditions and geometric losses, has also been considered for analysis. The exact closed-form expressions are presented for bit error rate (BER) of M-ary quadrature a...

LTE-A Multi-hop Network with Zero Link Overflow Utilizing OTFWC Scheduling

Abstract Multi-hop Relay networks are proposed to fulfill the demanding coverage and capacity requirements for current applications in a cost efficient way. It can be used in IMT-Advanced technologies such as 3GPP LTEAdvanced. In this paper, Resource Blocks (RBs) proposed scheduling scheme is considered for zero multi-hop links overflow in Uplink LTE-Advanced. Then based on this scheduling sche...

Multi-hop Cooperative Communications Using Multi-relays in IEEE 802.11 WLANs

In this paper, we propose a mechanism to increase performance by using cooperative communications in IEEE 802.11. Existing algorithms use one relay between a source and a destination, which is a 2 hop relay. There may be cases that relays cannot be found. We propose a cooperative communication protocol for three hops. The proposed algorithm manages network information (rate among nodes) and sel...
